Hiring: Town Planner

Wanted: Town Planner.  This is a full-time, union, benefited position. Responsible for programs related to land use, zoning, growth and development in accordance with community and economic goals as established by the Board of Selectmen and the Planning Board.  The Town will consider alternative proposals for a part-time planner; salary to be pro-rated.

Duties and responsibilities include but not limited to: professional, technical, and administrative support to the Planning Board; administration of the town’s zoning bylaws, subdivision rules and regulations, proposed amendments to the zoning bylaw, updates to the Master Plan and associated plans, preparation of applications for and administration of grants, and other projects. Night meetings required.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and One to Three years of experience in municipal planning, grant writing, administering planning and land use law and regulations or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications Certification as a Planner by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) is preferred.  Master’s degree in planning or related discipline preferred.  Proficiency with Microsoft Office and GIS. All applicants must be able to pass a criminal background/CORI check and a pre-employment physical including drug testing. 

Starting Salary: $75,000. DOQ Benefit package includes Health Insurance and a government defined benefit pension plan.
