LNG Advisory Committee

  • Proposed new LNG Tanks on the Peckham Rd. Site

On March 14, 2016 the Acushnet Board of Selectmen appointed a five member Citizens Advisory Committee on LNG.  The scope of this committee is to review information pertaining to the proposed Access Northeast project which would bring a new natural gas pipeline through the north end of town to a proposed new LNG storage facility on Peckham Road.

Recognizing the significance of this proposed project on this community, the Board of Selectmen have instructed the Committee to report to them by early summer on important issues of local concern.  The town is planning to submit official comments to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission by early November.  The work of the committee will assist the Board of Selectmen in crafting the town’s submission.

The Committee is dedicated to transparency.  Residents are welcome to attend Committee meetings (held every other Tuesday beginning at 6:30pm at the Town Hall Meeting Room), to review agendas and meeting minutes on the official Town of Acushnet website, and to submit comments to the committee by email:  lng@acushnet.ma.us
