The Planning Commission, an elected board of five members, is responsible for
the physical, environmental, and economic planning of the Town with all the
powers and duties of a planning board established under provision of general
law.
The Planning Commission would like all residents to be aware that the Commission
is available to assist them in understanding the intricacies of zoning law and
land use regulations, and that all are welcome to attend the public meetings
held monthly. Notice of these meetings are posted in the Town Clerk's office and
on the bulletin board outside of the Treasurer's office.

The Planning Commission has no permanent hours of operation. Chairman, Marc

First Level Public Information :
Available in the publication "Planning Commission Subdivision Rules and
Regulations, December 2004" Cost: $15.00 from the Town Clerk's office (508)
998-0215. Also necessary is the publication "General By-Laws, Accepted
General By-Laws, Special Act References of the Town of Acushnet, January 2008"

Second Level Public Information :
Available through consultation with the Planning Board at a meeting or through
the General By-Laws of the State of Massachusetts and current Massachusetts
court rulings.
Meetings Held:
Usually on the first or third Thursday of every month in the Planning Office at
the parting Ways Building located at 130 Main Street.
Billing Information & Fee Schedules:
Billing: Any fees due to the Planning Commission are payable to the Town
Clerk. Please be sure that you bring proof of payment (receipt) with you to the
Planning Board meeting. The Planning Board does not collect fees.
Approval Not Required (ANR) Plans (Form A):- $75 for the first two lots,
plus $20 for each additional lot.
Preliminary Plans (Form B)- $200, plus $20 per lot.
Definitive Plans (Form C)

Non-refundable fee (certified or cashier's check payable
to the Town of Acushnet) of $200 for one to four lots. Anything over four
lots is $50.00 per lot.

A fee (certified or cashier's check payable to the Town
of Acushnet) of $6 per linear foot of proposed street. This fee goes into an
Interest Bearing Account to cover the costs of advertising, professional
services, inspection and testing of the roadway and utilities. All monies in
this account will be returned to the Sub-divider upon release of the
Performance Guarantee. If this fee is not sufficient, additional monies
shall be deposited by the Sub-divider before work will be allowed to proceed
- Rescission, Amendment or Modification of Subdivision Plan - $200.
- Road Name Change - $100
- Lot Release (Form E) - $20. per lot
- Special Permit Fee - $200.
- Site Plan Review Fee - $200.
